Sorry to hear that the troops have been down with the trots. My Sister takes C at the first sign of symptoms. They buy chewable orange tablets in bulk, and they are tasty.

Elise: Please read the adapter's input specs off the label and post them here. Don't worry about the mains connector, because that is simple to fix.
It took days to audition? Good grief! What was it like? What consumed all the time? Did you spend hours sitting around waiting for things to happen? Did they at least feed you something?

Oh my goodness. My mother's family had an in joke where they would say 'it's Trampas' every time they saw Doug McClure or someone who they thought was Doug McClure. It would crack them up every time.

Indeed to goodness, I came across this video, and remembered when you told about it in your Catchphrases video. I had never seen Trampas before, and thought you might be interested to see him too.
Don't be a whim wham, subscribe to me!

In Loni Anderson's book, My Life in High Heels, she writes how she missed McClure after he died (at a young age).
Elise: Still waiting for those adapter ratings.

I know Doug McClure from the science fiction movies like The Land That Time Forgot and The People That Time Forgot. Oddly, though, the New York Times obituary didn't even mention those. He died at 59. It's hard for me to say anymore whether 59 is a young age to die, or just not an old age. Do you ever hear people saying that Beethoven or Shakespeare died young? They were 55, 52, respectively.
But I think the Simpsons did refer to these movies in their Troy McClure parody.
From wikepedia: The character of Troy McClure on The Simpsons was modeled after McClure and fellow actor Troy Donahue. Mike Reiss, executive producer of The Simpsons, said that Doug McClure's daughter informed him that Doug was a big fan of The Simpsons. She said that while watching an episode Doug saw the character Troy McClure on the show and said, "Are they making fun of me?" Doug said he thought the parody was funny and his daughters would call him Troy McClure behind his back as a joke. In the episode of Red Dwarf titled Backwards, Rimmer and Kryten landed on Earth. When Rimmer asked Holly what the time period was, his question was, "Do we expect to see a herd of flesh-eating dinosaurs feeding off the bones of Doug McClure?" McClure is also referenced in the Red Dwarf episode Legion in an apology from Kryten to Lister about the evening movie - "I'm sorry sir, it is another Doug McClure. Please, don't hit me."

Elise: How are your folks doing? What do they do in their spare time (which is all of it, I gather)?

After seeing the view counts from your recent videos, perhaps it is time to do another veg vid. How about sorrel, which may be seen savagely devoured here?

Thanks . Most of the videos tend to only get high counts after being there for a while but perhaps I should make another vegetable video.

Does your dad have a good collection of his paintings at home? I would like you to take some photos the next time you visit the old homestead, so that we can create a gallery topic. This forum has 1Mb pix max and only three per topic, so we would need to post them on a photo service. (I have used Photobucket, but I am disappointed by it, so probably Flickr.) Perhaps you could provide a few more each time you visit. what do you say?
