Elise and folks visit Newport, Wales, about 8 miles south of home at Pontypool: This is Newport City Drawbridge that Elise mentions at 02:20. If you look past the railing at the River Usk's edge, just past the center and right benches, you can see light fixtures at ground level. If one had a mind to, one could place a mirror in front of either and signal off into the distance. But I wonder how far? Someone should have a contest to see. This is Newport Castle that Elise mentions at 02:47. It's quite breezy, what with having no roof. Note that there is a gap in the fence where a section has fallen down (at least at the time the photo was taken). Now that is an invitation to explore! There is a small red and white sign on the side of the squat square column to the right of the steps leading up to the castle. What does it say? What is the column for? At the left is some pretty hefty artwork on the overpass, likely the city logo, being as the Newport Dragons are the local rugby team. This is The Wave sculpture Elise mentions at 02:54. I wonder what the dingle-dangle in the center is supposed to mean? If you are interested in the goings on at BHS, start here.

Dragons are just generally Welsh. I don't know what the 'dingle dangle' is though. I tried to get views of the Transporter bridge but the wind was so loud the footage was unusable. There were vague plans to visit it but by that time it seemed like too much effort.
